Prices
start at £45 per square meter however It will always be necessary to visit the site of a new job before giving a quote. Costs could be substantially higher due to the nature of the work to be done, manually transporting stone to inaccessible sites, any mortaring that needs to be done or demolition work prior to work commencing on a new wall. Stone is in itself expensive starting at about £50 / ton for local sandstone and much higher for other types eg limestone. Transport costs can be as much as £100 per 6 ton load and there is VAT to add. As a general rule you can say 1 ton of stone is required per square meter of wall. The cost of dressed stone such as copings will be more than random walling stone and varies dramatically.
